Once you and others sign a petition and it reaches it's signature goal then it's presented to those in power who can change laws and enact punishments for companies (even other countires) who are responsbile for polluting our rivers, our air, our water supply and our bodies. As well as those funding the poisonous fossil fuels industry,
The plastics industry knows that many plastics contain chemicals of concern - some in food contact uses. In addition, 99% of all plastics produced require the burning of fossil fuels. If we can get supermarkets to pay attention to us, their customers, then our homes and plent won't be loaded with more and more plastic.
Signing petitions to stop not only single-use plastic but all plastic is a great way to get the attention of our government and the plastic suppliers. Tell them we don't want anymore toxic plastics produced on our planet.
A petition that is not in your country or community might at first seem unimportant but we've seen that climate events half way around the world ultimately affect us all.
